Health Equity Innovation Hub Grant
January 14, 2025Dr. Lihui Bai was awarded a project titled "The Pharmacy Accessibility Index (PAI) Project" by the University of Louisville's Health Equity Innovation Hub. The PAl Project is one of the ten projects awarded in the Hub's inaugural round 2022-2023. The Hub was launched in spring 2022 as a collaboration between UofL, the Humana Foundation, and Humana Inc. with the aim to advance health equity for communities that have been marginalized.
The PAl project will develop optimization and analytics models to derive pharmacy accessibility index (PAI) whose market potentials are being assessed by commercialization experts. With such an index, private and public stakeholders can identify pharmacy deserts, re-configure or expand their pharmacy network. The second year of the project will develop a last-mile delivery solution system with West Louisville as its target study community. The PAI project is in collaboration with Uofl School of Public Health, School of Urban and Public Affairs and a non-profit organization Intrinsica Institute.
