IPA Conference Advances Play-Centered Early Childhood Education
February 9, 2026
The International Play Association (IPA) will host its international conference this February, bringing together early childhood educators, researchers, and advocates committed to advancing children’s right to play. Guided by IPA’s vision of “a world where all children can play,” the conference emphasizes play as essential to children’s development, learning, and well-being.
The conference includes 49 one-hour sessions, with five sessions presented live Monday through Friday, February 16–20. All sessions will be recorded and remain available to registrants through December 31, 2026, offering flexible, on-demand access. Register here to attend live sessions or explore the full conference library.
The Early Childhood Research Center is especially excited to share that long-time collaborator Michele Pullen will be presenting at this year’s conference. Her session, “Ready for Me: Changing the Narrative about Going to Kindergarten,” will be presented live on Friday, February 20, from 6:00–7:30 PM, with a recording available to conference registrants.
Pullen’s work has long aligned with ECRC’s commitment to equity, belonging, and play-centered early learning. Her presentation invites educators to rethink traditional ideas of kindergarten readiness and to consider more child-affirming, play-based approaches to supporting children and families during this important transition.
