McConnell Center sponsors APSA panel on statesmanship and democracy
April 7, 2026The McConnell Center hosted six scholars for a panel discussion on statesmanship and democracy at the 2011 American Political Science Association meeting in Seattle.
Rouven J. Steeves, of the U.S. Air Force Academy, chaired the panel on Sept. 3. Phillip G. Henderson, of Catholic University, was a discussant.
Authors included:
- Timothy L. Simpson, Morehead State University, The Steward in Statesmanship: Taking Responsibility for the Most Important Things
- John W. Carter, U.S. Naval Academy, Democratic Leadership: Principle Motivator
- Chad B. Newswander, University of South Dakota, Moral Leadership and Administrative Statesmanship: Safeguards of Democracy in a Constitutional Republic
- Paul R. DeHart, Texas State University - San Marcos, Framing Democratic Statesmanship
The McConnell Center has hosted a panel at the annual APSA conference since 2000.
