McConnell Center Welcomes 2026 SBS Cohort
September 15, 2026McConnell Center welcomes 23 participants for a Strategic Broadening Seminar at the University of Louisville.
The McConnell Center at the University of Louisville is hosting 23 participants, both U.S. Army soldiers and civilian employees, for an intensive, month-long seminar designed to broaden their strategic thinking and leadership abilities.
“The United States finds itself in a challenging international environment,” said Dr. Gary Gregg, Director of the McConnell Center. “Traditional alliances are under stress, and a new war in the Middle East is stretching our resources and testing the limits of great power in a world of cheap drones and artificial intelligence. The next generation of military thinkers and strategic leaders will need to be creative problem-solvers, and we are honored to be part of preparing them for the challenges of the 21st century.”
The McConnell Center leads a Strategic Broadening Seminar from late August through September, drawing on expertise from University of Louisville faculty, as well as other subject matter experts from across the nation.
Through a series of seminars, lectures, and simulations, participants read and engage with classical literature, political philosophy, history, and the foundations of the American constitutional order, as well as the new and emerging national security challenges the U.S. faces.
