A familiar face will work with Kentucky primary and secondary educators and students for the upcoming year as the McConnell Center's civic education coordinator.

Trisha Maclin Vaughn, a former McConnell Scholar ('11), will coordinate the McConnell Center's civic education initiatives for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Vaughn served as a civics education graduate assistant during 2012-2013 while earning her master's of arts degree in English. She has now transitioned into civics education coordinator in a full-time capacity.

"Trisha is passionate about the mission of our civic education programming and brings a strong organizational and planning background to this position," said Gary Gregg, McConnell Center director. "We're very excited to have her on our team."

Vaughn, a former Derby Queen, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of art's degree in English and political science. She is married to Derek Vaughn, a fourth-year medical student at UofL. They enjoy spending time with their miniature schnauzer, Leo.
