McConnell Scholar earns KY-ESU scholarship to Scotland

March 26, 2026

Will Randolph (’22), of Franklin, Kentucky, has been awarded a scholarship from the Kentucky branch of the English-Speaking Union (ESU-KY) to study Scottish literature in Edinburgh, Scotland in Summer 2021.

The award includes tuition, lodging, and meals for one session of summer courses at the scholar’s chosen institution. If national health and safety guidelines allow, Randolph will take part in a two-week course entitled “Scottish Literature Since 1900” at the University of Edinburgh.

"I am eager and excited to visit the old land of Scotland and study at the University of Edinburgh. In addition, I plan on exploring the Cairngorms, lochs, and isles that Scotland has to offer,” Randolph said. “I am grateful to the Kentucky Branch of the English-Speaking Union, the University of Louisville, and the McConnell Center for giving me this incredible opportunity.”

Randolph studies political science and Spanish at the University of Louisville. He serves as Service Chair of the McConnell Scholars Council and has previously traveled to Chile on a study abroad program, as well as to Germany and Italy.

Natalie Tracy leads the strategic and tactical marketing and communications initiatives for the McConnell Center. She also collaborates with Dr. Gary Gregg and other team members to design and coordinate the academic and programmatic endeavors of the McConnell Scholars.
