Juliana Von Wahlde Mendez, of Boone, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2030 at the University of Louisville. She studies political science and sociology with a minor in Spanish.

She was also a member of Mock Trial, Teen Court, Braver Angels, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and a Miami University Law and Politics 101 Summer Scholar. 

Having the ability to study political thought, history, and much more is not just a blessing—it is the opportunity of a lifetime. One that I hope to make more than just the most of, through community, friendships, and lifelong learning.
